FAD Theater Arts
FAD Theater Arts Introduction FAD theater arts is a seasoned drama program with 10 years of plays and workshops under it’s belt! Students first participate in a lively fall workshop program culminating in a performance in December. In the Spring Semester, students have the opportunity to perform in one of the best theater musical programs offered in South Florida for children. Although participation in the workshop is not required to perform in the musical, IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOUR STUDENT SIGN UP FOR BOTH, guaranteeing you a spot in our much anticipated musical.

Fall Dramatic Arts Workshop and Performance (Grades 1-3, 4-6)

This program is an excellent opportunity for your child to build a love for dramatic performance and the theater while making lasting friendships. Geared for both new and returning students, children have the fun of interacting with each other in theater games, the foundation for building acting skills. Drama games allow students to break away from rote memorization, and step into the skin of their characters. Students are encouraged in a nurturing, supportive manner, allowing for the shy student to work at his/her own pace. The classes culminate in a surprising and unique performance at the end of the semester!
Cost: $224.00 for a 16 week class with a $10.00 supply fee.

Creative Connections to Literature (Grades 4-6)
Instructor: Susan Hammer

The purpose of this class is to help students experience the excitement and enjoyment of reading. We hope to instill a love of reading, promote critical thinking, improve vocabulary, and provide opportunities for creative responses to the books we read. We will read one book, most likely selected from the Book Bowl list, each eight-week quarter for a total of two books for the year.

We will dissect each book in the same way scientists dissect a laboratory specimen. In this way we will learn about individual aspects of a story and the way in which those aspects connect and work together as a whole. As we explore each book we will also look for biblical principles and parallels, and students will become familiar with general literary terms and concepts. Students will work toward a culminating creative hands-on activity that relates directly to the book.
